About Backyard Coops

Backyard Coops is a small site for people with a few chickens at home. Or people who are about to get some.

What we do. We write buying guides and how to articles about coops, runs and the gear around them. We start from common keeper advice, like how much floor space a hen needs. Then we read maker specs and owner feedback. Then we think through the trade offs: size, airflow, predators and how easy the thing is to clean.

What we don’t do. We don’t post fake star ratings or made up test results. We haven’t tested these products in our own yard, and we won’t pretend we have. Prices change all the time, so we don’t print them.

How we’re funded. Some links are affiliate links. If you buy through one we may earn a small commission. That never changes what we recommend. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.

Spotted a mistake or have a tip? Tell us and we’ll fix the guide.
